Wiston has had skis in his closet since last summer. They were given to him by a special friend who thought they might be just the right fit.
Apparently he needed snow first and foremost and bear in mind he’d never seen snow before . He was told he needed the ski trails groomed and ready and for his local hill to be up and running for another season before he could see what snow and skiing was all about.
Winter has arrived and the hill is open. Finally. So yesterday was the day he headed to the cross country ski trail to test out his new equipment .
It wasn’t the sunny , sunny day he had hoped for , but there was a light dusting of snow falling and the mountains in the distance looked beautiful.
After a lunch in the lodge it was time to stop gazing out at the scenery and get those skis on.
Things went pretty smoothly for the most part. Relax, bend your knees and let the skis pull you along.
Take a minute every now and then to rest off the trail.
Although there were a few mishaps... it was all a part of the fun. Wiston is really glad he’s as flexible as he is and that the snow was really soft.
His skis got away on him only once.
No harm was done and he was back on track in no time.
At the end of the day, after a hot chocolate by the fire in the lodge, he knew he had a bit of time to play in the powder before the drive home.
Snow angels… a must.
A pretty spectacular first experience, a few sore muscles but he can hardly wait to go again.
